Under a Week

We're in the home stretch now. After more than two years of struggling and nine months of disbelief, we're officially less than one week away from the arrival of Max. It's strange to even imagine it now, that we'll be holding him in our arms so soon. I really hope we have everything ready...

The bags are packed, the outlets are covered, the night lights are in, the swing is assembled, the pack and play is locked and loaded, the new video camera has arrived (as you might guess from the bottom of this post), the new camera is on the way, and General Mills decided to change Trix from their new fruity shape incarnation back into the classic (and far superior) round shape.

I waited 15 long years for this. Who says internet petitions don't work?

In support of my efforts, Christy has adopted a round shape as well. Joking aside, this is the 37 week photo. People still tell her she's hiding him.

With all that in place, it's still impossible for us to avoid the nervous energy that will envelop us over the next six days. We've seen the boy on countless ultrasounds, but we still don't have a clue what he really looks like. We know he has some hair (per this week's ultrasound), we know he's got the appropriate dangly bits, and we know he's big for his age, but his face is still a mystery. Neither of us can wait to meet him, but we're still a bit apprehensive about the whole thing. I suppose that's to be expected.

And so, we plan. We clean. We fidget. We try to finish Gears of War so we don't have to come back to it in six months and wonder what I was supposed to do with the grenades.

We wait.

See you next week.

Until then, here's some proof that I've been spending too much time with the MacBook.

Max's Room
Pretty self explanatory. Just a quick tour of the Chateu Danger.

Mikey Fun
Today, we got to spend a little time seeing how life will be for us about 14 months from now. Just thought some of the family might want to see Mikey in all his bipedal splendor. Plus, he learned a new word...well...sound...still, very impressive and entertaining.
