Rolly Poly

Despite the fact that we weren't able to join the family in Port Aransas (missed you guys!), we have had a fairly positive week. We've been very busy trying out some new things and Max certainly seems to be giving us a run for our money.

In the last week, Max has perfected the art of rolling from his back to his front. We thought he'd never get around to it because he's always had a strong distaste for tummy time. Now it seems like he can't get enough of it. He'll sit up and play with the new noisy toys his mom got for him last weekend, lay down, roll over, roll back, make some noise, roll over, roll over again, roll over...you get the idea. He's becoming more and more mobile, which of course has its pros and cons.

One of the cons, of course, being that we're also trying to get him to put himself to sleep during naps. This has resulted in some intense baby acrobatics that have left him in every possible corner of his crib. He's varying between 20-40 minutes of crying before finally tuckering out on his stomach, wedged against some corner of the crib in a position that can't possible be comfortable.

As long as he sleeps a while, we let him do it. It's going to be a long few weeks while we get used to all of this. Meanwhile, he's giving us some fun new pictures.

I must investigate any noise in the hallway by nearly flipping myself off the changing pad.

Very good, grasshopper. You have now mastered the art of the cheesy grin.

There's something not right about this picture, but I can't quite put my finger on it.

We found Jim's camera in the woods. This is the last picture he took. We think the babies got him.

In foot news (which belongs at the bottom of the blog post), I'm now able to walk heel-toe with a minor amount of pain. I feel almost human again, and I expect that things will be back to normal by the end of the week. Thank you all for your concern and well wishes!

Have a nice week, everyone, we'll see you again next Monday with yet another promise of delivering that Seattle footage!
