Grins and Swimsuits

After celebrating all those milestones, you might think things would get into a nice boring routine around here. We wish. The weather's been so nice that we can't help but get out to see the world.

Owen used to spend all his outworld time in his car seat, but no more! Much to his delight, he's graduated to high chairs.

Can you feel the excitement?

Naturally, this affords him certain privileges.

This is the lunch menu, right?

P1000767.JPG
I'll have the clam chowder, thanks.

Nice try. As usual, we served up a nice helping of very colorful baby food. His enhanced mobility has proven to be...well, let's avoid more colorful language and call it a "challenge".

What? Why are you looking at me like that? Do I have something on my face?

This mobility is starting to extend into other areas, mostly the floor. He hasn't quite started crawling yet but he has learned that he can roll to get to things he wants.

Note the circle of influence. He started out sitting with his back against the pillows.

Max seems to get along famously with him. He routinely works to get Owen laughing during dinner time, and he works hard to keep him entertained elsewhere too.

Post-nap reading time is very important.

Few and far between are these moments of calm. We spend the rest of the time doing stuff like going to the park with the boys.

Ahh, Owen's first shot at a swing.

Might have been a bad spot in the sleep cycle, though...

Max spent the time alternating among different activities. When he wasn't running too fast to capture him on film, he was vamping for the camera.

Cheeeeeeeese!

When he wasn't doing that he was abusing the local flora.

Enjoy the weeds, everyone!

Then came Sunday. Max has been talking about seeing his buddy Mikey for a while now, and we had a bit of a treat in store for him thanks to the persisting high temperatures. Mikey's local pool has a space that the boys seemed to enjoy.

Splash park!

We must stomp on the water!

They thought this was hilarious.

They thought this was even more hilarious.

Owen had a great time too.

A crazy week, but lots of fun.

I keep talking about these videos I've finished up, but I keep missing the opportunity to post them. Instead of dragging it out for yet another week and trying to find a decent segue into them, I'm just going to do a full drop of the remainder here. Enjoy!

Big Red Dog

Took this one back when we first gained ownership of the new place. The first time we took Max to see the new house the former occupants still had all their stuff in there. This included a Clifford plush doll that Max instantly fell in love with. We decided this might be a good way to welcome him to his new room.

He wasn't quite sure what to think of it at first. Now he spends almost every night snuggling up to it.

Laughing

Even more dated stuff, from back when Owen was in his old room.

Muffins

Heavy rain can't drown out this boy.

Manners

Surprisingly enough, this seems to be holding steady for now.

Videos have been getting more sparse as of the big move. We'll have to remedy that in the coming weeks.

If you want to see the rest of the photos from this week's post, including stuff like this:

Come on. You don't want to see more of this? Liar.

Click here. Have a good week, everyone!
