A Little In, A Little Out

Despite a bit of a stumble yesterday, things are evening out around here so I actually have some time to put a post together. It feels kind of weird to do one of these on time. Last week was generally filled with excellent weather and, for me, yet another bout with this endless sickness. Thankfully most of that faded away by the weekend.

Lately, Owen has made leaps and bounds in the personality department. His eating has improved dramatically, he's getting much more vocal, and he now does this when we ask him where his tongue is:

Ith wite heaw.

He's also taken to doing this when he's done with his food. He thinks it's funny when you imitate him.

We're working with him pretty regularly to try and get him to take his first steps before shipping him off to school next week. Progress is slow, but steady.

Mostly he likes to lean like this.

We're also trying to get him used to the idea of sleeping on a nap mat.

Yeah. We wish his teachers luck.

When the weekend finally arrived, it was time for us to start our whirlwind Saturday of events. First, we stopped by a party for one of Max's school friends.

Look! Your hair stands up!

These two immediately got their balloon strings tied in a knot.

I asked him how big his fish was, and he held out his arms as wide as he could. Well trained already.

He and his buddies had fun making "food" for me.

Ketchup and mustard on everything. Always.

Sadly, we couldn't stay for too long as we had to rush out for lunch before making our way to our next set of events.

Didn't stop Max from saying goodbye, of course.

A brief car nap later, and we found ourselves in Forney for Jayden's soccer game. This, of course, meant that I immediately had to snap on the giant lens Christy got me for my birthday.

DEFENSE!

As one would expect, there was plenty of action on the sidelines as well.

Chalk art spans all age ranges. Casen was playing with it later, but unfortunately I didn't catch a photo of it.

Casen, once again, proved to be an excellent cousin for the big guy.

Whenever Max sees this spinny thing, he demands to play with it immediately.

Meanwhile, Blakely was bringing the love for the little guy.

After the game, we all headed over to the house for some birthday celebrating. Max and Owen relished the opportunity to play with some new toys.

Not sure how this happened, since that present isn't for either of them.

As with most toys, the box is always the best part.

To close it all out, Max decided to take over the camera work and snap this photo of Mimi and Pappaw.

Not too shabby.

Unfortunately we had to cut our visit short when Owen decided to spike a fever just before we headed out to Casen's football game. We really wanted to go, but we couldn't have the little guy spreading his disease all over town, and thought it better for us to try and get him home and in bed as early as possible.

Per my lovely wife's request, I fast-tracked this video to get it in line with the post for the week. I tried to edit it, but I couldn't help but put the whole thing up in one piece.

Tuckered Out

I think he's ready for naptime.
