Last week was a bit more eventful than our lazy week. We had scheduled appointments and everything! Thanks to some shifts in the weather it's actually been quite pleasant outdoors, so we even had a chance to take a trip out to see some big round orange things.
It all began with something most kids dread: The Dentist. We've been talking about it with Max since we first picked up a copy of The Tooth Book. Thanks to our efforts to keep him in the dark about The Evil Drill, he seemed perfectly open to the idea. We even found a dentist who seems perfect for the big guy.
I'm not kidding or embellishing. I didn't even see him flinch when they were in there cleaning his teeth. He does better than I do when I'm in there. One can only hope that this will last. Did I mention that I wish this guy was my dentist?
When all was said and done they gave him a clean bill of health, a new toothbrush, and a little toy prize. Apparently when he arrived at school he ran in and told his friends, "I had my teeth cleaned! I watched the Cars movie!" I'd say it was a successful visit.
The rest of the week was spent trying to get out of the house as often as possible due to the mid-70s weather that blew through. Max didn't seem to have a problem with that.
One evening we decided to take a brief trip out to the mall to make sure we had clothes for our upcoming family photo session. Max demanded that we give him the opportunity to ride the carousel.
When the weekend arrived, it was still nice enough for some outdoor time so we decided to make a trip out to the pumpkin patch we went to last year for a birthday party. Somehow we wound up making a slight detour on the way.
When we arrived, Max was a little tentative about the petting/feeding area. He gave a sheep a little pat on the head but wasn't too keen on it. The goats, however, were right up his alley.
He also braved the terror of having a cow eat out of his hand.
Owen managed to tag along as well, though his part in this was much less interactive.
After we got out of all that hay, Max's mission was clear.
We didn't let him keep that one, but we did snag a couple big ones on the way out to carve up a little closer to the big day. Before we left, we had to cart the kids around a bit to enjoy some photo ops.
Sometimes the weeks are devoid of activity, sometimes they're like this. It's all about finding the balance between the two. If you want to see the rest of the photos from this week, you can click here.
Imagine that, all caught up again! Maybe I'll even find some time to put together some of the videos we have backlogged over the next week or so. We shall see.
