Lumped Post

Christy is always telling me that I should just skip a week here or there when we're trying to catch up on this thing. I always respond that we've always done one post a week and we should try to keep doing that.

Then I looked at our photos for our catch-up process for the week. Turns out we took a total of five photos during the week when we were both sick, only two of which seemed like keepers. My choice was to make a post about two photos and describe our illnesses in excruciating detail or lump two weeks together.

So lump I shall.

To stave off the curiosity, I'll just start with the two photos we took during plague week.

Max enjoyed making paper bag puppets from one of his Christmas presents while we were shambling around the house.

Owen pretty much just hung around needing a haircut.

We did manage to get him a haircut at some point, and a week later (when we felt a bit more human) we brought the boys out to the mall so they could enjoy a little time out of the house.

Max isn't a big fan of the horses, and Owen doesn't seem to know what to think of it yet.

Once the second weekend rolled around, we decided it was time for Owen to have an activity to call his own. It had been a while since Max stopped going to Little Gym, but Owen had only seen the inside of the place as a little baby.

Seemed like a good time to let him see it again.

P1010876
This was easily his favorite part. The boy can't stop saying "ball".

Well, okay, maybe it was his second favorite part.

After the boys finished up their nap, we started their afternoon with a nice and healthy snack.

What? Pudding has milk in it.

Owen has been surprising us lately with his ability to use utensils. As you can see from the photo, he somehow managed to eat a bunch of chocolate pudding without making a huge mess.

Shortly after snack time, Christy had an idea. We headed upstairs and told Max to help us gather up all the pillows and sheets he could find.

Like this?

I then proceeded to delve into the deep recesses of my mind to shake loose a lifetime of learning about pillow and sheet fort architecture.

Owen crashed through the walls almost immediately.

Max seemed pretty impressed with the first attempt.

Didn't take long for it to come crashing down, sadly.

The nice thing about pillow forts is that you can always just put them right back up. Owen seemed pretty happy about that.

We opened things up a bit in the front and Max enjoyed watching some cartoons in the fort. Due credit to Christy for a great afternoon activity idea.

At that point we thought the weekend would come to a nice, quiet close. We had a fairly uneventful Sunday morning, but when we went to put Max down for his nap we noticed that it was starting to snow outside. I assured him that it had been too warm that morning for anything to stick, so he wouldn't really miss anything during his nap.

Whoops.

He paid me back, though. This is about the fifth time he came running full speed at me with a snowball.

Unfortunately, by the time we put Owen in 57 layers of clothes, he wasn't particularly happy with us.

While Max and I played outside, Mr. Fussy Pants watched us through the window. I guess we'll just hope that he's more interested next year.

Don't worry about him. He found other ways to entertain himself.

Thus ended these weeks that somehow ran together. We still have a big stack of videos I need to work my way through, so with any luck we can run a video week sometime soon. If you want to see the rest of the photos we took during those two weeks, you can click here. See you next time!
