Two weeks ago we had a break between visits out of the home and actually had a weekend at home. We chose to use the time as an opportunity to relax and enjoy some time with the boys.
Owen continues to surprise us with his advances in both speech and behavior. He has all of our names down pat now except for his own, which still comes out as "Oweee". He's interacting quite a bit more with his brother, and has started to learn to be just as much of a ham. He's also coming out of his shell a little and saying "Hi!" to random people at the grocery store from time to time.
When Saturday came along, we decided it had been far too long since we took a trip to the local library. We assumed this would be a disaster for Owen, as he seems to have a keen instinct for tearing things off shelves and throwing them on the floor. A few weeks back we took him to an outlet shoe store and the experience has left us (and the staff, I'm sure) with a few battle scars.
Once we'd finished checking out books that Owen immediately lost interest in, we decided to get a little work done in the yard.
One of the other things Owen is really developing is a nice, happy smile. He decided to show that off while playing out in the yard.
He also showed off what happens when we ask him to smile, which is decidedly...different.
And, finally, he gave us a taste of things to come when he started mimicking his brother's favorite silly face.
It was a pretty nice, laid back weekend for all of us. Max especially enjoyed it, though he's been talking about our upcoming trip to San Antonio. We took a little of the spare time we had to measure the big guy and it turns out he's 43.5" tall, which puts him over the top for being able to ride water slides at Sea World. I guess we'll find out how that goes this weekend.
Here's hoping I can get one more post in before then so we can catch this thing up. If you want to see the rest of the photos from this week, click here. Have a good week, everyone!
