Traveling Weekend

Our hectic schedule continues to ensure that we're about two weeks behind at all times. This update brings us into the beginning of April where, after procuring a shiny new vehicle, we ventured out to visit some family over the weekend.

It started with a first birthday for Max and Owen's cousin Maggie. Having a little one roaming around the house means they have a baby gate to corral the little one. For some reason this was very intriguing to Owen.

He must have walked through there twenty times.

As entertaining as that was, there was something else that drew the attention of both boys.

Kitties!

As the day went on, it was decided that the kids could use some time at a nearby park. Before long we had coaxed Max into letting Mimi help him into a tree.

Danger is worth it if we can get a good picture.

Owen chose a less injury prone location.

He was also super excited about the swing.

We made it back in time for presents and cake.

Cake, you say?

Having experienced the reaction to cake from our boys on their first birthdays, we assumed Maggie would poke at it a bit, then demand it be removed from her sight. Turns out our assumptions were a bit off.

See? No fussing!

Alright, alright, point proven.

Hooray for cake!

We ended the afternoon with our boys trying their hardest to steal any birthday presents they could find.

We made sure they didn't get away with any of it.

The boys awoke late the next day and we enjoyed some breakfast before heading up to Sherman so we could attend the birthday party for Steve and Tammy.

Owen was kind enough to finish off the grapes.

It didn't take long after we arrived for Max to crack open the new bubble wand we'd bought for him.

Sadly, there was only enough bubble stuff for a couple minutes of play. He enjoyed it nonetheless.

We retired inside to spend time with the cousins and put together some puzzles and...

Gah, he's coming right for me!

Once we'd eaten some lunch, the kids started trying to find some other activities to keep themselves busy. Max and Tanner opted to start hiding eggs around the yard so the older kids could hunt for them.

Max and Owen were both basically just throwing them around. It was surpisingly effective at times.

After all the eggs were found, the older cousins decided to do some hiding so their younger counterparts could have their own shot at it. Turns out Max and Owen are natural born egg hunters.

Owen was especially excited, though somewhat disappointed when he found out the eggs were empty.

Gah, he's coming right for me!

Thus ended another entertaining weekend for the family. If you want to see the rest of the photos, you can click here. Hopefully, we'll get some catch-up done and get things back up to speed around here soon. See you then!
