Last week started normally, with our usual routine of school and work and all that entails. That I'm writing that sentence at all should tell you that the week took a bit of a turn for us. Not the end of the world, but certainly not what we'd hoped for.
Wednesday night, Max didn't seem like himself at all. Normally he's fairly gung-ho about dinner and in the past he's always enjoyed the red beans and rice we had on offer. After a few rounds of telling us he didn't feel good, we decided to check his temp. Turns out he was over 103.
We kept things under control with copious amounts of ibuprofen, but his high temps didn't subside until late on Sunday. Not that he minded much, as it gave him an opportunity to catch up on his movie and TV watching.
Somehow, amazingly enough, Owen managed to survive all the way through it without catching anything from his brother.
Things haven't been all bad, though. Mimi and Pappaw were kind enough to drop by and relieve us of our parenting duties for a few hours on Saturday.
The boys continue to amuse us with new behaviors. Max has started correcting people with the word "actually". The exchanges usually happen like this:
Me: "Owen, would you like your basketball?"
Max: "Actually, it's both of ours."
Stinker.
Owen, on the other hand, has learned how to spell his name. I've had trouble getting him to do it on video, but if you spot him an "O" he'll sometimes follow up with "dubadoo, eee, ennn sells OWEN!" We'll work on catching it in the coming weeks. We've also caught him going through most of his ABCs (with only a little mumbling) and counting all the way up to 10. He's also decided that any time he feels something's gone wrong, he must tell us to "Fix it!"
Then, there's this.
Thankfully, all the sickness has left the house (for now) so we can try to return to business as usual. I managed to get a number of videos ready to present, but they'll have to wait until after the long weekend. Until then, you can check out a couple more photos from this week by clicking here. Enjoy your long weekend, everyone!
